Canadian National Adaptive Snowboarder Mike Fisher Joins the Definitive Family!!.

Losing his leg in a motorcycle accident at age 18, and being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 19, Mike Fisher has beaten all odds and surpassed every expectation to ever snowboard again. Just a mere three months after his accident Mike was back on his board, and within two years he was on the Canadian National Adaptive Snowboard team where he brought home a Bronze medal in the World Cup in just his first season. The following year Mike had several top finishes, including 4th place at Canadian Nationals in Boardercross, 4th place at USASA Nationals in Boardercorss and 2nd place at USASA Nationals in Slopestyle.

Aside from snowboarding, Mike travels in his off season as a Motivation Speaker for an Insulin Company called Animas, made my Johnson and Johnson. He speaks to children at diabetic clinics, conferences and high schools with crowds ranging from 30-5000 people. Succeeding at his love for public speaking, Mike has branched out from just speaking about diabetes and its challenges to talking to high school students about pursuing what they love and that as long as they have goals and a strong mindset they can accomplish anything they want in life as Mike has more than proven.

Wakeboard Nationals Definitive Domination.

Wakeboard Nationals were held in Peterborough Ontario this year which happens to be the local stomping ground of most of the Definitive wake team who showed up in full force. Jenn Evans was the first DRA team member to take the National title in the girls wakeboard category, we’d like to congratulate Jenn not only on being our National Champion but also for killing it in her first competition ever! Way to go Jenn! Our next Definitive rider to podium at the event was Harrison Carter, taking the bronze medal in the boys wakeboard category, Harrison had a stand up run landing everything clean including his backroll and toe 3. Congrats Harrison! Our women killed it for Definitive this weekend with Ally Boothroyd taking the women’s wakeskate title of National Champion and Erika Langman taking a silver in the women’s wakeboarding category. Ally and Erika also killed it in the slider comp but couldnt steal a poduim spot from the french Canadians, Ally finishing in fourth place and Erika taking fifth place. We are super proud of all of our athletes!
